AI in the Workplace Fellows
The AI in the Workplace Fellows are selected scholars whose research advances the understanding of how artificial intelligence is transforming labor markets, organizations, and economic decision-making. The fellowship recognizes researchers producing rigorous work at the intersection of economics, technology, and the future of work, and provides a platform for the development and exchange of new ideas in this rapidly evolving field.
Fellows conduct research that examines the economic impacts of artificial intelligence on firms, workers, productivity, and market structures. Topics may include the adoption of AI within organizations, the changing nature of skills and occupations, human–AI collaboration, algorithmic management, productivity and innovation, and the broader implications of AI for economic policy and labor market dynamics.
As part of the program, Fellows engage with a community of economists, data scientists, and policy scholars through seminars, workshops, and conferences focused on the economics of AI and technological change. Fellows present their research, participate in discussions of ongoing work, and contribute to collaborative dialogue aimed at advancing empirical and theoretical approaches to studying AI in the workplace.
The fellowship also provides opportunities for Fellows to interact with faculty affiliates, visiting researchers, and industry practitioners working on related questions. Through these engagements, Fellows receive feedback on their research, explore potential collaborations, and contribute to shaping a broader research agenda on artificial intelligence and the future of work.
By bringing together scholars working at the frontier of AI and labor economics, the AI in the Workplace Fellowship fosters a vibrant research community dedicated to understanding how emerging technologies are reshaping economic activity, organizations, and the workforce.
All fellows will be actively engaged during their visits at the University of Chicago, collaborating on research ideas and presenting their own research in structured university workshops organized by the Kenneth C. Griffin Applied Economics Incubator.
